Why:
For this project, we had to pair up and gain inspiration from what we would consider "modern nomadic living." Through our research, we found that travel was the main form of nomadic living these days. We saw that people love to bring drinks with them when traveling and they don't have an efficient way to bring drinks on-the-go, especially coffee from your local Starbucks or Dunkin'. The purpose of our product was to make a portable, reusable drink holder/caddy.
What:
Our product is a drink caddy that is portable and foldable, and is aimed at people traveling in groups. Instead of using the brittle cardboard drink holders from coffee shops, this drink caddy is reusable and can be taken anywhere you go. The caddy holds 4 drinks but, due to its diagonal pouches, can be slimmed down to 2 drinks and even folded all the way with its magnetic edges. There are even pockets on both sides of the bag to hold a sandwich and your phone!
How:
When sketching, we went several different directions to make sure that our drink caddy would be foldable. We tried sectioning the inside of the caddy into different shapes before we finally landed on the diagonal strips of fabric. We used fabric provided from the teacher and glue to connect it all, with cardboard liners on the 4 sides of the box.
